- Amare Stoudemire, economic genius and expert negotiator. So, the players want to start their own league now. Fantastic. I’m not even going to get into the sheer idiocracy that this statement alludes to. All I want to do is bring up a point alluded to on the blog Bethlehem Says, that the teams and the league need to reevaluate themselves…from top to bottom. The players make too much guaranteed money (Theo Ratliff, ‘nough said), fact. The owners exploit the system for excuses (“but it’s Eddy Curry’s fault for making all that money!”), fact. The players exploit the system for money (e.g. Michael “Double-Dippin’” Finley), fact. Some owners screw their teams by overspending (e.g. The Knicks) and some owners do so by underspending (e.g. The Clippers), fact. Everyone is to blame. The system is broken. Now, go fix it. |
